Robert Fogarty, a photographer of Dear World, from the NGO Oxfam, decided to mark the 5th anniversary of South Sudan’s troublesome birth in a positive way, which is not easy, since the two-year civil war has killed at least 50 000 people and left 5.1 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. But there is always a way: he chose several people from different segments of the population, and asked them to write in their own body, messages of hope for their war-torn country. The results were amazing. Even the obviously suffering ones accepted the challenge, and we can find smiling faces and confident postures among the portrayed. Such is the strength of hope.
